About Us

Our History

In 1954, a time when options for individuals with developmental disabilities were extremely limited, a group of parents from Geneva founded Ontario ARC to provide education and services to children with developmental disabilities. With no rights and very limited expectations, these children were not encouraged to attend school, find employment or connect with their community.

Thanks to their perseverance and persistence, the founding parents helped pave the way for future generations of people with developmental disabilities.  Today, Ontario ARC provides a wide range of services, programs and support to meet the needs of more than 1,000 children, teens and adults living in the county.
