Where Your Money Goes
The Friends of Ontario ARC Foundation provides financial support to all of the agency’s programs and services, including the following initiatives. Every gift you give, regardless of its size, will make a difference.
The Autism Center at Ontario ARC
One in every 110 children under the age of four receives an autism diagnosis. In April 2011, the agency opened The Autism Center at Ontario ARC. The Center provides a wide range of services for individuals with autism spectrum disorders, their families and caregivers, including clinical services, service coordination, transition services, referral services, training programs and seminars featuring local and national experts on autism spectrum disorders.
Project Search
Project Search is a nationally recognized model that develops unique partnerships between ARC, local schools, businesses and organizations to create meaningful training and employment opportunities for students with disabilities in their last year of high school.
Pet Connections
The benefits of animal assisted therapy for people with developmental disabilities are well documented. To fill this growing need, Ontario ARC and other local, non-profit organizations have developed Pet Connections – an innovative, multi-faceted service.
This program provides pet therapy for people with developmental disabilities and also teaches them to administer this service to our friends in the community. In addition, Pet Connections helps lead to greater employment opportunities for Ontario ARC participants in the field of animal care.
Recreation
Recreation is an Ontario ARC program that requires continuous, additional funding. Activities and events for people with developmental disabilities of all ages are held year-round throughout Ontario County. The agency currently serves approximately 400 people though our recreation program. Activities include bowling, dances, bingo parties, summer camp and Special Olympics.
